Victoria Rose!

Victoria Rose • 12/21/2010 • 7lb 14oz • 20in • 3:18pm

I am in love! Isn't she adorable? Victoria came on a great day, her grandpa's birthday! What a great gift! She is only a hour or so old in these pictures. I'm sure she'll be a regular occurrence on my blog.

Randomness All Around!

Hey all! I hope everyone is having a fun, safe, and warm winter so far. I'm loving this time of year, fresh off wedding season. It gives me free time to work on projects that have fallen by the way-side... like putting my home office together! I'm almost finished with it. I have a few photo projects I'm working on, as well. I've done a few photoshoots with in the past few weeks I need to post about, not to mention, getting orders completed in time for holiday deadlines! Lots and lots to do! I think a prioritized To-Do list is in order.

Oh! I'm going to be an auntie soon! (I can't believe I haven't blogged about this yet!) My sister is preggo with a baby girl, Victoria Rose. She should be here any day now. Her due date is December 28th. I'm hoping she comes before Christmas though. How fun would it be to have a new member of the family just in time for the festivities? I'm super excited. I've never been an aunt before! Which makes me wonder, what does it take to be the fun, cool aunt? I've heard I just have to let her do things her mom won't let her lol. I think that would get me in trouble, fast. I'll be sure to post pictures when she comes. I'm just waiting on that phone call when it's time to head up to the hospital!

Hmm, what else is new? I've decided I want to learn how to make clothes. Ha! I know it is completely ambitious of me and over my head, but with some studying I'm sure I can do it! Project Runway here I come! :P In all seriousness, though, wouldn't it be sweet if I could create my own garments for my photoshoots? Talk about complete creative control! I would LOVE it! I wanted to make a dress for myself for the holidays.
here's the pattern I bought.
Total vintage glam, right?

Considering I do not own a sewing machine, I think it will be difficult to make. With that in mind I decided to buy a dress, but still attempt to make this one on a friend's sewing machine. But now I have no time restraints, which is good! On top of making clothes, I taught myself how to knit... well kind of. I can: cast-on, garter stitch, and bind-off. With the help of a few You-Tube videos, I'm sure I can do more. Aaaand as if learning how to make clothes and knitting weren't enough, I'm learning how to play the guitar (again). I took lessons when I was in high school for a spell, but nothing ever stuck. I've decided now is the time! lol

I think I'm done rambling like a crazy person now! I should probably head to bed so I can wake up early and make that To-Do list. Good night, my lovies.

A Quick Update

It has been a busy couple of weeks.
One of old photo instructors, Gordon Morioka, passed away of lung cancer. He was an amazing man, photographer, and instructor. I think my favorite thing about Gordon was his enthusiasm for photography. He was a tech guy. He knew about all of the latest camera bodies, lighting equipment, lenses, you name it. Gordon was one of the few instructors that would tell me when my photos could have been better. He would say, "That's good, but you know what you could have done to make it better..." He would then rattle off a bunch of expensive equipment that no student could afford. haha. Whenever I would go back to visit, I would always be sure to sit in on Gordon's class. That man was a wealth of knowledge. I will miss him greatly.
I went to his service. It was bitter sweet to say the least. I was great to be able to see all of my old classmates and instructors, but so terribly sad at the same time. One of my other instructors, Shanon Rice, is planning a memorial for Gordon at Arnold's Bar downtown on November 28th. I'm really excited about it. Gordon would have loved a party in his honor and I know he loved Arnold's.

Here's Gordon doing what he loved to do. Gordon is on the right. My friend, Paul, is the guy with all the tattoos. (P.S. I didn't take this picture. I borrowed it from a friend)

I have been without my mac and photoshop for a week or two. My lovely cat, Bella, decided it would be fun to chew through my charger's wire, rendering my computer dead. Luckily, she didn't electrocute herself! A trip to Amazon.com and $50 later, I got a new charger and I'm back in business! :)

Well I better get back to work. After a while without my compy, I'm so behind!

Karla and Kevin's Engagement Session Part 1 by Seven Hills Photography, Cincinnati Wedding Photographer

These are just some of my favorites from Karla and Kevin's engagement shoot. The first part of their session was an "Avant Garde" style shoot.

Karla has a lot of practice doing this style of shoot. Karla and I have been best friends since we were in second grade. When we were about 9 or 10, we spent almost every weekend doing fashion photo shoots. My older sister would do our hair and make-up, dress us up in her clothes, and we would take pictures of each other in my backyard! haha :P (I'll have to dig up some pictures!)

Anyway, back to the couple! Karla and Kevin are getting married November 20th of this year. I'm in the wedding and doing the photography (with the help of my associate, Tiffany)! I asked Karla about doing this engagement shoot because, well, why not? lol. I wanted to do an engagement session that was a bit different. I had such a hard time picking images to post. I had over 18 favorites picked, but I know I couldn't post that many! For the second half of the session, we did a more traditional engagement shoot. I'll post a few of those tomorrow.
